Carmel Mahony

Carmel is a very experienced oil painter, of portraits, still life, interiors and landscapes. Her plein air works cover Melbourne, rural and coastal Victoria - the Mornington Peninsula in particular.

Carmel matured as an artist under the meticulous and challenging tuition of Shirley Bourne.

She has held three solo exhibitions and participated in other group exhibitions, receiving many awards and commendations. Her work is held in private collections in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Carmel is a member of the Malvern Artists' Society and the Melborne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, and regularly exhibits her paintings with both organisations.

As well as teaching at MAS, Carmel also holds private classes in Melbourne and Blairgowrie.

In her classes and workshops, Carmel expects her students to paint from life, to paint truthfully, and to always strive for improvement.
